In August 2017, on The King George V playing fields, The Herefordshire Country Fair, in conjunction with the Word War 1 Commemoration Committee, will be holding the annual Country Fair.

This historic day will be a major civic event. Alongside all the core traditional features of the Fair there will be educational displays, both in marquees, on the showground itself and in the main ring; where the commitment, hard work and sacrifices made by the civilian population during the war years, and how this contributed to the eventual victory, will be reflected. 1917 was a pivotal time - true hardship had set in and the results of conscription, rationing and shortages called for extraordinary efforts to be made by the whole population.
